Speed Reading Privacy Policy
Version 1.0. Effective November 2, 2026.
This policy applies to the Speed Reading app for iPhone and its widget (the "App"). The App is published by a private developer based in Russia, listed in the App Store as Igor Klyuzhev ("we").
The Russian version is the primary version. If this English version differs from it in meaning, the Russian version prevails.
In short
- We do not collect data about you or how you use the App.
- The App has no sign-up, analytics, ads or tracking. It contains no third-party SDKs that send data.
- Everything you do in the App stays on your device.
- We receive your data in only one case: if you email us yourself.
What stays on your device
This data is processed only on your iPhone. We have no access to it.
- Camera and photos from your library — to recognize text and count words. Recognition is done on the device by iOS. Images are not saved or sent anywhere. The App only sees the photos you select from your library.
- Gaze control in the Schulte table exercise — only if you turn it on in the exercise settings. The front camera detects your face geometry and gaze direction to notice when your eyes leave the dot in the center of the table. Everything is computed on the device. Frames, face geometry and gaze direction are not saved, not sent anywhere and not used for advertising.
- Microphone — to show the noise level while you read. Audio is not recorded or saved.
- Location — only if you add a location to a History entry. Coordinates are stored in the entry on your device.
- History, exercise results, settings and reminders — stored on your device until you delete them.
- iOS crash and performance reports (MetricKit) — stored in a file on your device and not transmitted.
You can save your History to a file and load it back (Settings → Export History / Import History). The file is created only when you ask for it and saved where you choose.
What Apple sees
The App Store handles downloads and updates. If "Share with App Developers" is turned on in iOS settings, Apple shares pseudonymous statistics and crash reports with us through App Store Connect. Apple processes this data under its Privacy Policy; you can turn sharing off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
If you email us
When you write to speed.reading@outlook.com, we receive your email address, your message and any attachments. We use them only to reply and resolve your request. The legal basis is performance of the license agreement under which you use the App (Art. 6(1)(5) of Russian Federal Law No. 152-FZ) and our legitimate interest in replying to you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Email is provided by Microsoft (Outlook.com). Messages are stored on Microsoft servers outside Russia, including in the United States. We are based in Russia, so a message from another country is also processed in Russia.
We keep correspondence for no longer than 3 years after the last message, then delete it. We do not share it with anyone except where the law expressly requires it.
Your rights and deleting data
- On-device data you delete yourself: Settings → Delete History, or delete the App. You can revoke camera, microphone, location and notification permissions in iOS Settings → Speed Reading.
- Correspondence. You can ask what data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted — email speed.reading@outlook.com. We reply within 10 business days.
- You can complain to a supervisory authority: in Russia, Roskomnadzor; in the EU, the data protection authority in your country; in the UK, the ICO.
Children
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not collect children's data. If a child has emailed us and you want the correspondence deleted, let us know.
Changes
If we ever start collecting any data, we will first update this policy, note the change in the App Store release notes and, where required, ask for your consent in the App.
